قصة فيلم الثعلب والكلب تدور حول ثعلب أحمر يدعى “تود”، وكلب الصيد “النحاس”، يطورون صداقة قوية خلال طفولتهم. ولكن عندما يدخلون مرحلة البلوغ ، يستسلمون لضغوط الأقران ويبتعدون عن بعضهم البعض.

بعد تيتم الثعلب الأحمر الصغير، رتبت البومة الكبيرة ماما وصديقاتها -دينكي ذا فينش وبومر نقار الخشب- لتبنيه من قبل المزارع اللطيف أرملة تويد ، الذي يسميه تود.
